About Me

Hello there!

If I had to pick three ways to describe myself, it would be these: first, I’m a lover of good conversations (over a good cup of coffee – Stumptown preferably). Second, I’m a dreamer, through and through. Always dreaming of how to be better, how to connect more, and how I can travel the world with my family while still making a living (a girl’s gotta dream, right?!). And third, I’m a mama. Read more about that journey here: http://slowdownanddo.com/stories-change/.

As much as I love city-living, my heart often yearns for a slower, simpler life. It’s no secret to friends and family that I daydream about country living – but when it comes down to it, what I desire most is an escape from the frantic, chaotic pace that so often consumes life.

I started this blog as a reminder to other kindred spirits – who may or may not be in the midst of motherhood – to tune out the noise and be who you were made to be.

I believe that we are all placed exactly where we are for a reason, so I’m working on being intentional right here and now. Doing rather than waiting. But I’ll admit, it’s hard.

There is a quote by Mary Oliver that reads, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

This has been a favorite quote of mine for years and I’ve thought long and hard about what my purpose actually is. What I really plan to do with my life. But the truth is, I am doing life.

There’s no start button that you push to signal, “Ok life, I’m ready to start. Let’s do this.” Life doesn’t wait until we reach the perfect balance of connected-ness, whole-ness, enough-ness, or readi-ness. Lord knows. It

It just keeps on moving.

If I’m ever lucky enough to run into Mary Oliver, this is what I’d tell her: I don’t know what I plan to do with my one wild and precious life. But what I’m doing today is slowing down and doing something.
